Hello,

I am currently thinking very hard about using dtniq in a software product that I am building. But I was wondering if I could ask a few questions in the forum first?

I plan on writing a java app that will connect to the Iqconnect.exe using tcp/ip is that doable? I dont see a need for any api if I do it this way. Is that correct?

I will need to know the protocol for talking with the iqconnect.exe that is running on my machine, where will I get access to that information?

Is there a java api? Can anyone point me somewhere I can read about it?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Bob

Hello Bob,

First, I want to clarify that the DTNIQ and IQFeed are two distinct products. While you can have both products installed, you will actually be developing to IQFeed's components, not DTNIQ's.

Quote: I plan on writing a java app that will connect to the Iqconnect.exe using tcp/ip is that doable?

Yes, you can write to the IQFeed API using java and tcp/ip.

Quote: I dont see a need for any api if I do it this way. Is that correct?

I'm not sure what you are asking here. If you write to IQFeed, you are using the API.

Quote: I will need to know the protocol for talking with the iqconnect.exe that is running on my machine, where will I get access to that information?

When you sign up for the API, you will gain access to the API documentation.

Quote: Is there a java api? Can anyone point me somewhere I can read about it?

Yes, java is supported in the IQFeed API. When you sign up for the API, you will gain access to the API documentation.

I hope this information helps. Thanks!

Natalie

Thank you for your response.

Great, documentation will be avialable when I sign up.

One more question....

Is there a test feed available for testing during development?

Thanks in advance.

There is no "test feed" available. A standard IQFeed Account is required to access the "Live feed" which will handle any testing needs you should have.
