hiya there :)
my dtniq annual prepaid is up for renewal, but since all i use is the iqfeed to run my 3rd party software... i was wondering if i might change over to just the iqfeed - perhaps on an annual subscription plan similar to that of dtniq? otherwise the monthly iqfeed plan would work for me, i suppose... i just like the idea of writing the 1 check per annum though.
thanks for any info - lbfvt

You can always pay your subscription a year in advance. We don't offer any discounts on the IQFeed service for annual prepayment, but we do for DTN.IQ. In fact, if you have any futures exchanges, you are better off with a DTN.IQ annual subscription due to the $30 per month discount.
A DTN.IQ annual subscription with Futures is $59 per month while an IQFeed subscription with futures is $70 per month. The other main difference in switching to IQFeed is that the number of symbols that can be watched would decrease from 1300 to 500.
If you want to change your subscription, you can contact customer support and if needed, they will get you in touch with the proper department to get you taken care of.

thanks for the quick reply 8)! whatcha doing up so late anyways? ];) hmm, would... the emini's or opra qualify as futures tho, i'm wondering now? mof, the fees calculator at: http://www.iqfeed.net/index.cfm?displayaction=data§ion=feesdidn't even kick-in the extra $20 for full cme + cbot when i tried it (came back as $50 + $54 cme + $54 cbot) so maybe it needs a l'il tweaking, eh. (...at any rate, all i need for the moment is the free ecbot and i only follow about 2 doz. symbols as well. i just figured that out to be worth about $50 monthly on iqfeed as opposed to $59/mth annually as you point out - ain't no big difference, but my 3rd party software limits me to iqfeed regardless, so i thought it worth enquiring.) thanks again for your input - lbfvt

IQFeed is bundled with our DTNIQ software, so there is no difference to your 3rd party software. plus there is the benefit of being able to run both applications at the same time.

The $20 fee does apply for the emini's, as they come from the futures exchanges. Hence, DTN.IQ with an annual subscription ends up being the best deal with futures @ $59. If you have the DTN.IQ subscription, you can run the DTN.IQ app first, then use some of the features in it that may not be available in your 3rd party app (news is the main app that some 3rd party apps don't support or don't support well).

thanks fellas!
alright then - i see the $59 vs. $50+$20 thing now.
hmm, ya know what though - i had tried running dtniq alongside my 3rd party previously (iq's news & options apps were both rather desirable) but kept getting booted off from your end for trying to run more than 1 connection, eh!? i never thought to question it or figure out the work-around, but now since youse guys mentioned it, it must be possible and i'll just have to re-try & try to see what the matter is/was. ...all's i remember was that whenever i started up the 2nd app (be it either the dtniq or the 3rd party) the 1st app would get kicked off before the 2nd even thought about connecting. i figured it was just one of those things - and guessed you'd have to pay a 2nd set of fees for a 2nd connection... no?
thanks again (:

nope. We fully support multiple connections. Of course, some 3rd party software doesn't conform well. Let us know what 3rd party software you are using and we should be able to help. Also, make sure you are using the latest IQFeed client, as well as the latest DTN.IQ software (www.dtniq.com). Installing the latest DTN.IQ software will automatically update your IQFeed. Also, make sure you launch DTN.IQ first, then connect with the 3rd party software.

Quote: "Also, make sure you launch DTN.IQ first, then connect with the 3rd party software." With the latest version of IQFeed, even this is no longer required. You should now be able to launch your apps in any order. But just to reiterate what Jay has said, as long as you are logging in from the same computer with your apps, any configuration of DTN.IQ and 3rd party apps should work.

...same computer only?
i know i'd been trying on 2 separate pc's - it just makes more sense to me that way.
so can it be done with 2 pc's by any chance, or just 1?
(dare i ask why 1 anyways? since 2 are both tied together on the 1 internet connection line?)
...at least i know now it can be done on 1 pc regardless :)

Because there is no way to know that the 2 machines aren't 2 people. DTN and the exchanges require separate user fees for each individual display device and/or user. You would need 2 accounts, and 2 exchange fees if you ran it on 2 machines.

I've read the DTN.IQ page and have been a subscriber to IQFeed for a few years.
What is the difference from a product development perspective? Is the feed the same? Same TCP/IP accessibility and API? Same historical data availability?
As far as I can tell, I'm currently paying:
$50 base $30 for futures $40 for options
+ exchange fees
With DTN.IQ, it appears I can get the *exact* same thing for 51% off? Edited by FullyArticulate on Apr 12, 2007 at 12:08 PM

A DTN.IQ subscription paid on an annual basis will be $59 + $40 for Options for a total of $99 per month. An IQFeed subscription which is available monthly only, would be $50 + $20 + $40 per month or $110 per month.

thanks for the replies - interesting stuff.
funny though, i was just thinking it'd almost make more sense for the iqfeed to be the lesser-priced of the two if for no other reason than dtniq seems to be iqfeed plus extra features like charting, etc.
i'd imagine that has something to do with promoting dtniq as a complete package and competing with other similar products as opposed to iqfeed being far more of a niche thing?
