I have gone back and forth with support on an IQFeed/IQConnect issue that I wonder if anyone else has experienced this, and what the solution is. I am watching about 1500 symbols in an application that connects to IQFeed. The connection is established hours before the market opens, watching all symbols, so it sits and waits. Every day, after the market begins trading, about 20 to 30 symbols never change their "last trade date." This date remains the previous session date, and never updates.

However, this only occurs with symbols that take a while to open (e.g., NYSE 1 to 3 character types). I have NEVER seen this trade date problem happen with stocks that open instantly. If I shutdown IQFeed and reconnect, all symbols then work fine for the remainder of the session, the trade dates are correct.

I need to know the last-trade-date to determine when the stock is actually trading. Problem is, if there is a delay in opening, the symbol usually does not update the date. Tech support tells me they cannot reproduce this problem. Can anyone else?

Hi Kavakava,

Can you send me a list of symbols you notice this on. I will build a watch list & monitor it when the market opens. I have not seen anything like this on the DTN IQ, but would like to monitor the same symbols you are using to try & duplicate the problem. You can send the list to stanley.sullivan@dtn.com

THANKS

We could learn a lot from crayons: some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, some have weird names, and all are different colors but they all have to learn to live in the same box.

Kavakava, No need to send the list. I will send it to him (unless you want to send us an updated list since ours is a couple weeks old now).

Stan, I am the person who he has been in contact with. I will forward you a DTN.IQ watchlist that he also has (I created the watchlist based upon a symbol list he sent me originally and emailed it back to him to try in the DTN.IQ software).

I have not been able to reproduce this issue although I would certainly appreciate it if you can try as well.

Right now we are at a point in troubleshooting this where 2 + 2 doesnt equal 4 so any outside input is certainly appreciated.

Thanks Steve,

I'll set it up & checkit first thing in the morning. With a little luck maybe 1 of us will be able to spot something.

Thanks guys. By the way Stan, be sure to be watching the symbols well before the market opens. If you start up the feed, say, five minutes after the opening bell, the problem will not occur---ever. (Which, in my opinion, rules out the "dropping of data" theory). And, to reiterate, it only occurs with symbols that do not immediately start trading at 9:30-est.

OK I have the watch list set up & will leave it open over night & check it when I come in @ 08:30 Central time tomorrow.
